2021 ZFG Cabernet

AVA: Oakville, Napa Valley
Varietal: 100% Cabernet Sauvignon
Alcohol: 14.5%
Limited Barrel Production

Grown on the eastern hillside benchlands of Oakville, this Cabernet Sauvignon captures the intensity and elegance of its celebrated terroir. Classic aromas of ripe blackberries, dark plum, cassis, and wild raspberry are intertwined with hints of crushed stone, lavender, cigar box, and toasted vanilla.

The palate is bold yet refined, offering layers of red and black fruits, warm baking spices, and delicate floral undertones. A beautifully structured expression of Oakville’s gravelly and loamy soils, this wine exemplifies Cabernet Sauvignon’s signature depth and precision.

As it unfolds, nuances of umami-rich truffle, supple leather, sage, nutmeg, and dark cocoa emerge, adding to its complexity. Silky, fruit-laden tannins coat the mouth, while vibrant acidity lends balance and freshness to the long, polished finish. This small lot wine reflects the distinctive character of Oakville’s terroir, with both immediate charm and the promise of graceful aging.

Mike and Jenny Farmer’s journey into winemaking is rooted in friendship, a love of great wine, and a desire to create something truly special. After years dedicated to their respective careers—Mike in commercial operations and Jenny in nursing education—they found themselves drawn to the artistry and camaraderie of Napa Valley’s wine scene. Now calling Calistoga home, they bring the same passion and purpose to ZFG as they do to their philanthropic work, supporting causes close to their hearts, including cancer research and patient advocacy.

With ZFG, they set out to craft a Cabernet that reflects their no-compromise philosophy—bold, expressive, and deeply rooted in the land that inspires it.
